Joshua 1:1-9 God speaks directly to Joshua; giving him a special responsibility as his assignment, some today may call it his purpose. His life journey and circumstances had prepared him for such a time. God told Joshua his assignment and instruction of what to expect, but proceeds to remind him to be strong and of good courage. He closes the conversation in verse 9' with reassurance, "for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go".

Scripture: “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Open Thoughts:

The conversation I would like to continue with is identifying patterns, but this time not of self but of God. Being strong surely does not refer to manipulation of mass, and being of good courage very well could be the casual "be safe" we gesture when departing loved ones today but I believe it to be warning of such to be ready to practice courageousness as a trailblazer. This conversation is about the attention to the detail. God knew what Joshua would encounter after giving him the assignment to finish where Moses left.

Moses is dead! God says, gesturing at Joshua's attention, in verse 5 he mention "not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life".

Identifying what patterns you possess is an ongoing process of reflection that I encourage to be had between you and God. God will speak to you, and as you grow in faith he will give you too an assignment like he did Joshua. A vision, and idea, a dream, a thought, an interest, something you may not be able to quite explain or a boulder unction in your spirit to call you to action. Like Joshua he assures us of his promises given to us through our ancestors. The attention to detail the holy spirit within me would like to highlight is "be STRONG, be of GOOD courage" As you conduct bible study of this passage with the Holy Spirit I pray that those who have ears to hear let them hear.

I believe it takes COURAGE to know the work that is required of you, the people that depend on you-- too in fact be strong, as your faith is tested by the times and whatever hardship (long-suffering is a fruit of the spirit of God) man tries to oppress unto your life. The results are rigged for us to win and prosper, those of us who believe in God through Jesus and his teachings and abide in him. God told Joshua be strong---- I am here to serve as a reminder, life is ours to live if the Lord says the same. We know his plans for us according to verse 7. I wanted to get into verses 10-16, after God gave Joshua instruction how Joshua carried out the order for PREPARATION but.

You broke the pattern, Your growing in God and getting clarity of your life, and next according to Gods pattern in Joshua, you prepare for what he told you. Don't be caught lacking without works but trying to exercise your faith. Until next time! May God add a blessing for the reader, the hearer, and the doer of his word, AMEN!
