In the book of Joshua chapter 1, we read a conversation of God commanding Joshua to take charge of the Children of Israel and lead them into the promise land that God swore to their ancestors. God told Joshua to not be afraid and dismayed but to be strong and courageous as He reminded him that He will be with him wherever he goes (Joshua 1:9). But for Joshua to take charge of this situation, he had to be properly prepared for this type of “elevation”. Joshua was Moses' right hand man and commander for the army. Before Moses died, Moses appointed Joshua to be the new leader as God commanded (Deuteronomy 31:7-8). Joshua was full of the spirit after Moses laid his hands on him and the Israelites obeyed him (Deuteronomy 34:9).

God knew that Joshua was ready to take charge because Joshua had been through a lot of trials and tribulation following Moses’ lead. He led the army into multiple victories and secure land. Most times in life we question and ask God “why me?” But the answer to that is “why not you”. God will often put us to the test to examine our faith and our strength. It’s to prepare us for something greater He has in store for us. When I face trials, I know God is working things out for my good and for the betterment of my life (Romans 8:28). What we must do is believe and trust the process and lean on God’s understanding and not our own (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Ask God in prayer today for an understanding on what He is preparing you for? Where is He elevating you to grow? How can you help the next person in line to prepare them for their elevation?
