“Always be Prepared”
In 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV), it says “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” I want to elaborate on a time when little David was prepared and ready to defend God in a situation where the odds were stacked against him.
Have you ever faced a situation you weren’t prepared for? Have you ever been asked to do something on the spot that caught you off guard? I HAVE! Most of the time we get irritated because we think the other person isn’t considerate of our wellbeing or mental stability for asking us for a favor to complete. 1 Peter 3:15 teaches us to “always be prepared” because there’s a famous saying “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.” Little David was a shepherd boy who defended his sheep. It’s recorded in the bible where it says that David killed a Lion and a Bear while defending his sheep (1 Samuel 17:34-36).
Now, David is faced with a situation where his people are at risk of losing a battle against the Philistines which could ultimately kill his people or be held captive. Everyone was afraid to face Goliath because of his size and armor except little David. David was spiritually and mentally strong and courageous! As I stated, he protected his sheep by killing a lion and bear so what harm can Goliath do to him! Before David killed Goliath, he acknowledged openly that the Lord All powerful was on his side that will help him defeat Goliath (1 Samuel 17:45-46)! David was already living out 1 Peter 3:15 in his heart and soul which helped him to already be prepared to face and defeat Goliath.
This mindset is what we should all inquire about in our daily lives. We must always be prepared to defend God and share to the people who is in Power over all of us! David was prepared to defeat Goliath because he had already been through the test of killing bigger animals and he honors God as his Lord over Israel. So, ask yourself today, Am I prepared? Am I prepared to defend God? Am I prepared to fight for the Lord? And if you’re not ready, I encourage you to get ready and stay ready, so you don’t have to get ready!

This is confirmation. This morning during my prayer time- I heard the Holy Spirit of God talking about preparation. And how he’s preparing and equipping me for the time ahead. To be ready instead of getting ready when the moment comes. Thank you 🙏🏽
